2006 Tour of Green Homes
The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition is teaming
up with The Habitat for Humanity to offer two bicycle tours to
all 6 sites included in the 2006 "Tour of Green Homes" on
Saturday, October 7th.
You can print out the maps and take either one or both
of the rides by yourself or with family or friends at your own pace.
Both start at the Habitat for Humanity housing project at 3965 Via Lucero
in Santa Barbara. It's located a block north of State Street, just west
of La Cumbre Road. Because both tours involve some biking in traffic,
they are not suitable for small children on their own bikes or beginners.
If a free PFD
Reader is not already in your computer, you need to download
a copy to view the rides.

The Bicycle Tour #1
is 6.3 miles long and will take you to four of the home sites in
the San Roque and Samarkand neighborhoods. It keeps to quiet residential
streets for the most part, but there is some riding on busier arterials.

The Bicycle Tour #2 is 21.6
miles long and takes you to the two Montecito home sites. You'll
bike on some busy streets that for the most part have bike lanes,
but there is also nearly 1000 feet of climbing total. Although it
likewise starts at the Via Lucero home site, you can pick it up
elsewhere if that's more convenient. Click on the flyer photo to
download it. |
| In order to get into the individual
sites, you need to purchase a $25 Habitat for Humanity ticket. It
is required to be admitted to any of the 6 sites. Further information
and tickets are available at the Habitat
for Humanity web site. |
