We need your voice! Join SBBIKE members in asking to make Las Positas Rd. a safer bike lane with physical separation from cars. On Thursday, November 16th at 6 pm, Las Positas will be before the city's Transportation Circulation Committee (TCC).
The Need: Currently, people bicycling on Las Positas have no separation from fast moving traffic that is moving 55 mph +. In addition, low-light conditions make seeing bicyclists at night a challenge. This is uncomfortable and risky for even the most confident bicyclists and an unthinkable option for our more vulnerable road users including kids and elders.
The Ask: We are asking the city to install physical separation between the existing bike and car lanes. This would make the street a protected bike lane, a design that has been successful around the U.S.
Why Now?: The City has been designing and looking for funding to build a multi-use path along Las Positas for years and will provide a progress update at TCC. While SBBIKE supports this project, we are asking for an immediate and affordable solution to the current issues on Las Positas as 100's of people are biking on Las Positas weekly and they need a safe route.
4 Easy Ways to Help:
