Family Bike Night/Bici Familia (Monroe)

Monroe Elementary School is hosting its first Family Bike Night/Bici Familia!

At least 10 VOLUNTEERS are needed: Please sign-up for a shift (at the bottom of this page) if you are committed to help or get in touch with Education Director. You will receive a follow-up email with instructions.

Students are encouraged to ride to school on that day so Bici Centro volunteers can start doing a good bike tune-up during school hours. Bikes will be in better condition for the fun evening event :)

Certified League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) will teach a FREE bilingual bike skills class for all ages. Parents are encouraged to participate. Please be on time!

 

Please bring:

    • bike if you have one: FREE bike valet and FREE bicycle tune up offered by Bici Centro.
    • For participants who don't have a bike, a limited number of FREE loaner bikes will be available.
    • All participants (youth & adult) are required to wear a helmet. Bring your own if you have one or you can purchase one at the low cost of $10.
    • Feel free to print out the Family Release Waiver and bring it to the event, so you don't have to wait to get right into the Bici Familia experience. Family Release Waiver en Español

* BIKE GIVEAWAY for participants who attend the event from 5:30-7:30pm: Bici Centro is donated 15 refurbished youth bikes.

Timeline:

* 5:00pm: Registration. Purchase of helmets. Dinner: bring your own food or "grab n Go" burrito: $5. Pre-order with the school.

* 5:30pm-7:15pm: Family bike night will start in the auditorium. Then, participants depending on their level of experience will be divided in different groups for some fun riding drills on the blacktop.

* 6:45pm-7:15pm: Group ride for experienced riders only. In order to ride outside of campus, participants must able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting at all traffic signals. 

7:15pm: Group photo. Return loaner bikes. Bike GiveAway will be done by the school before the end of the school year.
