SBBIKE is committed to making Bicycling in Santa Barbara County safe and accessible for everyone. Every area of Santa Barbara County enjoys a robust Spanish-speaking community, and we're here to serve those communities by providing bicycle education and outreach.
Our shop, Bici Centro, is a fully bilingual shop and has served the spanish-speaking communities of SB for over 7 years. Bilingual staff and volunteers are available facilitate education in Spanish whenever it is open. The shop has also hosted bilingual mechanic workshops, and is the home base of El Taller Movil, SBBIKE's mobile bike shop that goes to Spanish-Speaking communities to repair bikes.
Iluminando la noche is SBBIKE's annual light giveaway. The first week after the time change in the Fall, teams of Volunteers distribute over 1,000 red and white bike lights across the South Coast. By distributing in Spanish-speaking neighborhoods, SBBIKE also conducts surveys of Spanish speakers to see how well we are making our services available to these communities.
