Ed France departs
It’s the end of an era – our Executive Director is leaving for a new role here in Santa Barbara.
Please join the SBBIKE board, our staff & volunteers, and the bicycling community at-large in offering a hearty farewell and congratulations to Ed France.
A profound Legacy
During Ed’s tenure, SBBIKE and its programs have grown substantially; his strong leadership and passion for biking have benefited our community immensely. We look forward to leveraging his legacy, to move the organization to new milestones and expanded scope.
These are big shoes to fill and as we begin recruiting for Ed's successor we ask for your patience during this transition.
While this is a big change, our commitment remains the same. Our future mandates we find cleaner, sustainable transportation alternatives and many think the bicycle, in one form or another, will be how we sustain our environment and assure our own good health. We're busy fine-tuning our Strategic Plan to meet these ends.
Let's party!
Join us in celebrating Ed and sending him forth with our deepest appreciation and best wishes. A party is planned to celebrate Ed as well as our volunteers. RSVP here.
Thank you Ed France, for everything you have contributed to Santa Barbara.

Bike Valet
What is Bike Valet?
Bike Valet is an opportunity for businesses and events to show how important safe bike parking and infrastructure is to the organization and the community. Bike Valet allows patrons to ride their bike to an event, safely park it, and enjoy the event knowing that their bike will be watched by dedicated staff and volunteers.
Why Bike Valet?
Bike Valet is an integral part of encouraging people to make more trips by bike. This reduces the need for car parking (10 bikes fit in one car space), benefits the environment, reduces traffic congestion before and after events, is good for people’s health and saves money. Our Bike Valet program provides a free and secure location for bikes during events as a way to say “thank you” for biking.
Want to volunteer as a Bike Valet?
As a Bike Valet volunteer, you will be an ambassador of SBBIKE+COAST where a passion for safe and equitable transportation is important. Prior to an event, volunteers set up valet-area racks and fencing. During the event, volunteers park and retrieve bikes with the ability to view concerts and programs. After the event, its time to pack up. Volunteering is simple and easy, we just ask that you be on time, come prepared for rushes and slow trickles, keep bikes organized, follow the parking system, and come to have fun and make new friends!
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Sign Up form below.
You must also sign an adult waiver (link below) and be a member of SBBIKE+COAST (sign up or renew your membership here.)
Need bike valet for your event?
In the last decade, we've parked over 10,000 bikes and we've gotten every one of those bikes back to their owners safe and secure, so ride your bike right up to the front door – no need to find or pay for parking.
If you'd like to have bike valet at your next event, contact our bike valet coordinator.
